What is the perfect wedding makeup

Today's guest blog is from the amazing Leanne Perilly who will be sharing her tips for the perfect wedding makeup!

These are words commonly used by brides-to-be to describe how they would like their wedding day make-up and it should definitely be all of those and more!

What is the perfect wedding makeup?

Wedding day makeup is different to your everyday, evening and special occasion make-up  Most brides would like to look like themselves rather than someone completely different… you don’t want to be unrecognisable to your family and friends but look a more radiant version of yourself.    If you fancy trying a different look, experiment and wear it for some months beforehand to get used to seeing yourself in a new way, this way you will also be more comfortable on the day.

So how can ‘extra special’ make-up be achieved but still be characteristic of you, make you feel completely comfortable and feeling amazing?   Firstly your make-up professional will get to know you and your skin, your likes and dislikes, what is amazing to you may not appeal to the next person.  A pre-wedding trial is a huge MUST, no surprises on the day please!

Employing a professional Make-up Artist is essential to reduce the stress of achieving perfect make-up on yourself, even if you are highly skilled at applying it.  They will guide you with their expert knowledge how to ensure make up stays intact and perfect throughout the day and evening.  It needs to look natural enough for daylight hours yet be visible in your photographs.

Perfect makeup starts with the preparation and priming; the skin needs to be in great condition by looking after it well at home or having regular treatments prior to the day.  Start at least 6 months before but don’t change anything in the last 4 weeks to avoid a last minute skin reaction.  Ask for expert advice from a recommended beauty professional.  When skin is hydrated and in good condition make-up applies beautifully and looks flawless.

Prime the skin with a Face Primer suitable for your skin type; primers are designed to help smooth the surface of the skin dealing with any dryness, enlarged pores, lines and wrinkles. They also prepare for a smoother foundation application, which should be applied in very light layers to create a perfect finish which will last all day and evening.

High quality, highly pigmented professional products will ensure the colours stay true all day and won’t slip, crease or slide off.   At your trial your Make-up Artist will discuss colours and styles to suit your skin tone, wedding colours and themes which will show  off your features.

If you are used to a certain type of look, i.e. strong lashes, eyeliner, lots of blusher/bronzer, well defined brows, it’s important to incorporate this into your wedding make up too.  The products should be suitable for your skin type so that you feel completely comfortable and forget that you’re  wearing make-up.

All of these steps and applying Fix Spray will ensure that you won’t need to add, alter, top up (except possibly lipstick/gloss later on) your make up throughout the day,  and it will look as perfect as when applied that morning.
